Do you need a parent in court if you are under 18 in North Carolina?

I am 17 years old and got a citation for misdemeanor larceny. My court date is this upcoming Saturday. I want to know this because both my parents are working and wouldn't be able to get off and I'm turning 18 in December 8th. When I got the citation, he told me it wouldn't be expunged when I turn 18 because in North Carolina your trilaed as an adult at 16. So does this mean I can just go to the court by myself?
