What are some great conversation starters?

I want to start conversations with people i'm not really friends with, but i'm not sure what to start with, and what to continue with? I don't want to ask about cles and stuff because that's just an uninteresting thing to talk about. and a good conversation starter when i first see them when i'm walking to my locker, kinda thing. anyone know anything?
