If I got a letter from the company to pay a feed for shop lifting, will the local authorities still charge me?

I got a letter from the company saying to pay a $100 feed for shop lifting (Penal Code Section 490.5). After I pay the feed, how long do I have to wait till I'm sure that the local authorities/police will not put a charge or set up a court meeting with me?
